Annapurna Expedition

Overview

Trip Information

Before 1948, Nepal was not opened to the climber from rest of the world. After 1948, its boarders were opened and the group of American ornithologist climbed this mountain first time. It was further discovered by Swiss climbers in the north east of the country. In 1949, French Federation de la Montagne negotiated with the government of Nepal for the permission to climb one of the greatest peaks of the world.

According to the Indian survey, the word Annapurna Expedition is the combination of two Sanskrit words which means filled with food. The bend of the peak contains the root of another name Durga. It is one of the names of Hindu goddess. She is the wife of lord Shiva. During the expedition, Maurice Herzog said, the closest translation of this word is goddess of heaven. Adventure Pilgrims Trekking has a very good climbing experience staff and crew.
